Nid yw'r dyddiau roddwyd i mi 'Dreulio ar y ddaear las, Ond fel dyrnfedd o faintioli, Nifer wedi eu cyfri' 'ma's; I'r trag'wyddoldeb maith 'rwy'n brysio, Gwlad fy etifeddiaeth fawr, Bob yn ronyn fe ddaw'r boreu, 'Roi ffarwel yn llwyr i'r llawr. 'Rwyf heddw'n rhoi fy hunan iddo, A'r cwbl fedd'i tan y rhod; Nerth i godi'r groes yn llawen, Ac i ddatgan byth ei glod; Heb bryderu na gofalu, P'odd y byddaf 'foru fyw, Iesu laddwyd cyn fy ngeni, I'm gwaredu digon yw. Crist yw'm cadarn Ymddiffynfa, Efe yw'm Dinas Noddfa s'wr, Arch i'm cadw rhag y diluw, Pan y rhuo tonnau'r dw'r; Bywiol Ffordd i dir y bywyd, Drws agored i mi yw; Fy Nghyfaill da i grag'wyddoldeb, Iddo cān fy enaid byw. Clod trag'wyddol f'o i'w enw, Torrodd fi'n y goedwig fawr, Er fy mod yn bren anghymmwys, Yn ei eglwys 'rwyf yn awr, O'r euogrwydd fe'm gwaredodd, Dygodd fi llochesau'r graig: Yn ei glwyfau mwy arosaf, Pa'm yr ofnaf ddrygau'r ddraig? Trwy ddyfnderoedd moroedd gofid, Tu a'r bywyd 'rwyf yn myn'd; Trwy gystuddiau a blinderau, 'Rhyd y llwybrau'r aeth fy Ffrynd: Ffarwel Aiphtiaid wael drysorau, Pob teganau sy'n y byd, Iesu ddenodd fy serchiadau, Myned adref sy'n fy mryd.Morgan Rhys 1716-79 Golwg o Ben Nebo 1775 [Mesur: 8787D] gwelir: Crist yw'm cadarn Ymddiffynfa |
Nothing are the days given to me To spend upon the blue-green earth, But like a span in length, A number having been counted out; To the vast eternity I am hurrying, The land of my great inheritance, Gradually the morning is coming To bid farewell completely to the earth. I am today giving my self to it, And all I possess under the sky; Strength to take up the cross cheerfully, And to declare forever his acclaim; Without worrying or being anxious, Whether I shall be alive tomorrow, Jesus was slain before I was born, To deliver me he is sufficient. Christ is my firm Defence, He is my secure City of Refuge, An ark to keep me from the deluge, When the waves of water roar; A lively Way to the land of life, A Door open for me he is; My good Friend for eternity, To him shall sing my living soul. Eternal acclaim be to his name, He cut me in the great woodland, Although I was an unsuitable tree, In his church I am now, From the guilt he delivered me, He brought me to the refuges of the rock: In his wounds henceforth I shall abide, Why should I fear the evils of the dragon? Through the depths of the seas of worry, Towards the life I am going; Through afflictions and griefs, Along the paths where my Friend went: Farewell poor Egyptians treasures, All the trinkets which are in the world, Jesus has attracted my affections, To go home is my intent.tr. 2015 Richard B Gillion |
